Is the MySQL server running? -- ps -ax | grep mysql
Are you able to connect via mysql -uroot -p at the command line?
Have you read the manual?
http://www.snort.org/docs/snort-rh7-mysql-ACID-1-5.pdf -- is one of
them, _very_ well written.

Hello to All,
 
            I'm a newbie with Snort and MySQL. I go to access the acid
main page and I get "Can't connect to local MySQL sever.
I looked over everything but I'm not sure what to look for. Can someone
point me in the right direction. My running Snort 2.0.4 and MySQL
4.0.17.
