Christopher,
If you're on an EFNET server #darknet is a channel that people join to
discuss current exploits and vulnerabilities as well as vuln-dev types of
chatter. It tends to be a decent place to watch for new and/or upcoming
exploits.

I run an IRC network called Gamma Force IRC network. We have
various security related channels although many of them will fall way to
general conversation (sometimes lacking, as IRC tends to go) quite
frequently.
We do have a few security Web sites who choose to house their
IRC channels there and we incourage others to join us. Help Net
Security has their official channel on the network although it has
basically no patronage as of late. It does not get enough promotion, I
suppose.
Nevertheless, it may be of interest. The network is rather
general in itself but security is one of the primary topics within most
of the channels currently. I try to promote it.
