I just read about the gatekeeper competition on atstakes security news
website and I looked over the rules and everything, here’s a link just in
    case anyone hasn't seen it http://www.emailgatekeeper.com/challenge.html. I
wanted to raise a discussion on what people think about this, I mean their
claims of being able to stop any type of email borne virus before it gets to
your email client sounds a bit outrageous and do you think it is right of
them to try and have people try to write a new strand of a ILOVEYOU type
virus that isn’t detected by anything and then offering prize money for
doing so. Also if you see the real prize for getting by their system is 100
dollars, you get the other 9,900 by writing a description on how you went
about the attack and giving them the source.
"When e-mail bearing an attachment comes through E-Mail GateKeeper, it
checks it against a list of acceptable file types created by the system
    owner.

If the file type isn’t on that list, the system converts it to a format with
no executable code for the recipient, then sends the original file to the
company’s information technology department or to GateKeeper for analysis. "

Can't you block what types of files you allow your email client to accept
in email attachments without the help of an outside program? To me this
doesn’t sound like anything new, but please correct me if I am wrong.
